Unfortunately this post starts with some rather grim beige photos of our homes humble kitchen before the makeover.
I spent around $300 on paint, new hardware, fabric and wood for shelves and have transformed our kitchen into a space that we love to cook in.
I made the roman shade this weekend. I have never made anything like this before, it was relatively simple and I am really happy with how it turned out. I will have instructions on how I made it up over the next few days. I hung the shade from the ceiling, which has given the illusion of the window being twice its actual size.
This is the view from our dining room.
Although I have a large vegetable/herb garden outside. It is so nice to have a few of my favorite herbs growing on the window sill. They bring a gorgeous aroma and living energy to the kitchen.
This wall which was a bit of an un-utilized corner, now it has some wooden shelves to display kitchen items upon.
I purchased these ceramic handles from eBay for $24 for a set of 6.
I painted all the lower cupboards in an indigo blue. This is my favorite color, I can't get enough of it! It makes my heart sing. la la la! I like the way it is below eye level, You can't see the blue until you walk into the kitchen, so it is quite an unexpected pop of color.
Thanks for taking a tour around our kitchen, I'm off to make a cup of tea in my new happy place.
Love Yels xox

I just found you from Charmaine's blog. I love your kitchen and am now following you to see what else you do. That shade of blue is perfect...pinned it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and your comments! I love the blue so much. It's my favorite part. x
DeleteI'm sorry, but what you've managed to do here without changing a single permanent element - even the tile countertop - is AMAZING. I was convinced you had actually changed the counter until you showed the close-up because everything else draws the attention away from it. Really, really well done, you should be UBER proud :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments! I did lighten up the grouting a bit which has made a huge difference. It looks a lot cleaner and the white tiles are less defined x
